Boat Storage Tips
- Be sure to clean and wax your boat before storing for long periods of time.
- Even when storing your boat inside, it is a good idea to keep your boat covered. The cover should allow for the air to circulate.
- Check the pressure on all trailer tires, inside storage is good for tires to keep them from direct sunlight which is damaging.
- Check trailer wiring and ensure that it is operating correctly.
- Check wheel bearings on trailer and grease if necessary.
- During the winter months be sure to winterize your boat according to the owner's handbook.
Inspect the entire boat and trailer for worn, damaged and/or missing parts and use the down time storing it to replace and fix these things as necessary. - Take down any identification numbers from your boat and take digital pictures of any valuables that you are leaving inside your boat or storage unit for insurance purposes.
- Make a note of when your registration is due to expire, so that if it happens during the storage season you can get it taken care of.
